Shakin' All Over - Johnny Kidd and the Pirates

  • If you choose to play just the chords to this well known song, then it's quite accessible and not too hard.

  • If you'd like a greater challenge then scroll down and try the tab parts, including the guitar introduction!

The chords...

  • It is a pretty much straight forward 12 bar blues in Em. So you will need these chords...

The Verse...

  • Simply play 2 Em chords on the first beat of each bar. Play along with the recording to practise...

The verse section ends with a single Em...be ready for that!

The Bridge/ Chorus...

  • Listen carefully to the timing of this when you play it...

The solo...

  • This is a straight forward 12 bar blues progression. Just watch out for the B7!

Em  Em   Em   Em

Am  Am  Em   Em

B7   Am  Em   Em

  • And there you have it - the complete song! Try playing along with Johnny Kidd and the pirates using the backing track at the top of the page, and the lyrics!

Shakin' All Over

Verse:

When you move in right up close to me
That's when I get the shakes all over me

Bridge/ Chorus:
Quivers down my backbone
I got the shakes down my knee bone
Yeah the tremors in my thigh bone
Shakin' all over

Verse:
Just the way that you say goodnight to me
Brings that feelin' on inside of me

Bridge/ Chorus:
Quivers down the backbone
I got the shivers down the thigh bone
Yeah the tremors in my back bone
Shakin' all over

Solo:

Bridge/Chorus:
Quivers down my backbone
Yeah the shakes in my knee bone
I got the tremors in my thigh bone
Shakin' all over

Well, you make me shake and I like it, baby
You make me shake and I like it, baby
Well, shake, shake, shake
Shake, shake

  • This is an arrangement of the guitar solo. It has elements of the original in it but is not meant to be a replica. You can still play it along with the original, and certainly over the top of the 12 bar progression of the solo.
